We’re raising a city of readers, together.

NYC Reads Together is a citywide literacy initiative that connects leaders and actors across the five boroughs around a single goal: to make every child a thriving reader and writer by 2035.

The Goal

By 2035, all NYC school-age youth will be fully literate—able to read, write, listen, and speak in ways that allow them to achieve their goals and develop their knowledge and potential.

Getting to 2035 requires a citywide effort, one that starts in schools and extends to the homes, neighborhoods, after school programs, libraries, and community spaces where children spend most of their time.

NYC Reads Together

is the citywide effort—connecting siloed work into shared action.
